The Wombats music on cd

EVERYTHING UP TO NOW... - Release date June 19th, 2001 on Chicago-based independent label Digging Records.

The aptly titled debut album from The Wombats, "Everything up to now...," is a compilation of material recorded over the course of the past five years. The songs bristle with catchy melodies, upbeat tempos, killer three-part harmonies and clever, insightful lyrics. Each song reads like a short story about life, love, loss, expectations and disappointment; written with just the right amount of sarcasm and tongue–in-cheekness to keep you smiling. There is a consistency to the songwriting, yet each track possesses its' own distinct Wombat flavor. This is a true rock & roll album with an emphasis on "the song"- with universal appeal for a large segment of music buyers. After one listen, you'll realize that the music stems from the classic-60's school of rock funneled through one man's vision as a present day songwriter.

THIS IS NO RETRO-REHASH ALBUM – this is modern rock & roll with great pop sensibilities!

THE CONTROL EP - Released June 1994 on Digging Records.

The recording debut of The Wombats is a 4-song EP. It contains 3 acoustic songs and an "electric" alternate version of the title track. Originally, the electric version was meant to be a bonus track. But as fate would have it, this recording inspired The Wombats to go back to their original "plugged in" instrumentation of electric bass, electric guitars and standard drum kit.

The arrangements and production are clean, uncluttered and snappy. The members of the band at the time of this recording consisted of Kevin Giragosian-lead vocals and six and 12-string acoustic and electric guitars/ Kegham Giragosian-congas, bongos, percussion and backing vocals/ Richard Guzzo-electric bass and backing vocals.

The songs remain in the Wombat signiture pop sound despite the fact that the instrumentation is more sparse. Clever lyrics, great 3-part harmonies, jumpy rhythms, catchy melodies and memorable choruses are on tap here for all to fill-up on. Cheers!

Track listing:

I'm in control, My my(acoustic), Sexy world(acoustic), I'm in control(acoustic).

THE WOMBATS - "Lose the creep" available on cd single only. Digging Records 91991-1003-2. Released March 2002.

TRACK LISTING: Lose the creep,Kill you with kindness, Take me down.

This limited edition single is a perfect introduction to the next wave of Wombat songwriting. Lose the creep takes the listener on a rollicking punky-pop roller-coaster joyride replete with all the thrills: machine gun snare drum rolls, driving bass, crunchy guitars, an explosive, hook-filled guitar solo and the signiture Wombat twist of the lyrics. Get on your pogo and ride!

Kill you with kindness, with it's bass-heavy funk-rock solid groove, draws the listener in with it's hypnotic and body quaking sensations. Heavy slabs of guitar chords and barebones solid drumming hold down the fort while melody lines and dreamy 3-part harmonies float over the top.

Take me down puts the glam back in the pop. Desperate lyrics pepper this beautifully arranged gem of a song. Clean guitars working side-by-side with hammond organ give way willingly to a wall of crunchy power-chords and of course...that signature Wombat ear-catching chorus. This one's got "alternative hit" written all over it.
